10 things you should know

Welcome to a New Era of VMware Partnering Strategy

For the first time in more than a decade, VMware has a new global partner program.

VMware Partner Connect officially became the Virtualization Star’s new flagship program on March 1, rendering all other VMware partner programs obsolete.

“If you looked at our portfolio, our solutions and our offerings and then how the old program was going to be marketed with partners, it was obsolete,” said Jenni Flinders (photo), vice president and head of the global channel from VMware in an interview with CRN. “We really wanted to develop our MSP capabilities with partners who build repeatable IPs and build integrated solutions with us. So it really required a full partner program reset.

VMware’s current flagship program, VMware Partner Network, was unveiled in 2009. VMware Partner Network often made short-term adjustments, which made it difficult for partners to engage with VMware. Partner Connect leaves behind siled and complex engagement frameworks in an effort to drive simplicity in one program.

Flinders and Richard Steeves, Senior Director of Global Partner Programs for VMware, explain to CRN everything channel partners need to know about VMware Partner Connect.
